Pvp monk got edenial by mesmers, knocked downed by warriors, know how to kite, use the skills effectively (5 energy spells). They dont have the luxury of stay in the back and let warriors take the aggro in pve or stop for energy regen.
I have monk myself, Im doing good in pve but suck at pvp. Pvp has more pressure for monk than in pve, that's why I say pvp monk is generally better than pve monk. I take pug monk in pve with Hero title any day.

agreed.
pvp-players are better at pve than pve-only players, and no one can make me think otherwise.

Titles may have an effect in Nightfall, but probably only at places where there are so many people LFG that group leaders have lots of players to choose from. I do respect the protector titles though; its hard to get those if your a horrible or lazy player. I would consider those to be the ultimate PvE title.
As for the idea that PvP players in PvE in are better than PvE only players, I'm not so sure about that. The two types of gameplay require different skills. Would a PvP warrior really know much about aggro management?

I never look at other people's titles or armor. In fact, I rarely remeber that I have titles, and the only time I really ever pay attention to my own armor, is when I'm thinking of buying new armor. I doubt nightfall will get me to start...

And the necro in the pve mish with the rank 5 emote certainly used necro in pvp...I mean, its not like the title is account based...and its not like they can get those titles with touch rangers or iway's or anything.... /sarcasm

Personally i know ill be using henchman, as i did with prophecies and factions. Especially since theyre supposed to be customizable.
I really pay no attention to titles, since just about every one can be farmed in one way or another (Iway, thumpway, noobs in good mission groups) Ive easily beaten missions with pugs of randomly invited people, and ive also been to fow with a rank 9 tank using an IWAY build.

Protector titles aren't exactly hard to get. I've seen many bad players sporting Protector titles, esp. Protector of Tyria. Grandmaster Cartographer just shows that you are very good at highly boring tasks such as wall hugging at 60 DP. What these titles have to do with success in a mission is a mystery to me.
Now, I had to choose between someone with a Protector title and someone spamming his wolf or tiger in a PvE area, I'd take the Protector.

QFT, when i run build that use only primary class skills i change to monk secondary for the reusable res whether it be warrior, ele, necro, whatever.
'sorry i used my sig already and im the only one alive' tends to pee more people off than 'Warrior X is using Mending!'

I just hope that I wont have to resort to getting PUGs, and if I do, all members are (at least) Advanced Skill Hunters.

Such masterful use of the English language! Is that the quality of English they teach at your school? Call them and demand your money back: they are obviously ripping you off.

Grandmaster Cartographer is hugging the walls at -60DP.
That is funny - especially since the poster obviously doesn't have the title either in Tyria or Cantha.
I can show you screenshots of almost every area I've explored and none of them have me at more than -13 DP. Most are +10 Morale Boost.
I really couldn't care less about a PvP title that you got IWAYing your Fame during the Double Fame Weekend Events.
Give me a Protector or Grandmaster Cartogtropher any day of the week!

I don’t associate any maxed titles with a player’s skill. So it’s not really going to influence me getting or getting into a group. The worst player can get the protector title, even if the group thinks the player is better off dead and they complete the mission/bonus/Masters the player still completes the same as everyone in the group.

For a PvE title, you know they got it playing that character class. For a HA title you have no real way to tell if they IWAY'ed for it or not.
Also, PvP doesn't teach you anything about how to make sure the aggro stays on the tank.

While its possible in theory to get a protector title without becoming at least a decent player, it will require a lot of work to find a group you can leach off for the missions. Getting a group for gyala hatchery or the fire islands is hard enough as it is, so it will probably be eaiser for them to improve their skills enough rather than leach off people.
Then again I've never actually looked at someones title. If someone boasts about their HA title, or even worse their xp count, then they are automatically out of my group for any PvE as I doubt I'll enjoy playing alongside them. This is usually confirmed after watching them react to someone saying that HA rank is meaningless in PvE.
I've never actually seen anyone mention any other title to help themselves get into a group. I generally work on eaither a first come first served basis (if they have a useful character and I don't have friends/guildies comming), though I find it more enjoyable to get someone else to form the group. I'll probably only use their titles if two PUGs want in and one of them mentions the title but the other doesn't. Even then I will only use the protector, cartographer and champion titles. If they have KOBD I'll ask which titles they maxed to get it.
Hopefully Nightfall will work like Factions so you can be sure that anyone wanting to party with you at some point is at least good enough to of passed all the previous missions, unlike Prophesis where you can't be sure about that untill after THK (which in my experiance put lots of players in desert and south shiverpeak missions who couldn't handle them).

I still go by the names and typing style of people more than titles or anything else.
If somebody with the name "Serial K I L L A" (typically a male necro, warrior or assassin) writes "PRO LFG MASTRERS NO NEWBZ PLZ!!!!!" I'll sure as hell not invite him.

Protectorship of Tyria and Cantha are oddly different indicators -
- getting Protector of Tyria tends to show adaptability in the face of different play scenarios, high competence in aggro management, and a certain amount of patience and persistence.
- getting Protector of Cantha tends to show an understanding of good offensive builds, team communication, and a certain amount of group composition elitism ("don't take the Mesmer, we're trying to get Masters!").
You know, tends.
Either way, I'll think better of a player displaying either title... But then I tend to accept virtually any sort of (non-personally-obnoxious) scrub into PuGs I form, since I'm pretty confident of my own ability to carry a group.
